Fasting for Freedom

During this Lent season, our church is fasting for freedom. Today, there are over 30 million slaves around the world, more than at any other time in human history. This is a great injustice and it is time for the Church to take its place and take the lead to help set the captives free.

The Church Must Lead
This is a spiritual battle that must be led by the Church through praying, through fasting, through giving and by being a voice for the voiceless. It is my firm conviction that if we (the Church) are not the preeminent leaders in the fight for justice and in the demonstrations of mercy and grace to the weak, then we are allowing the world to look more like Jesus than we do. Jesus came to set the captives free and only the Gospel can do this. We have been given the Gospel to both proclaim with our words and demonstrate in our lives. We are the light of the world and this light has the power to drive away the darkness. Stand with me and let us pray for the Church to arise out of its slumber. This is our hour. We have been given freedom and influence for such a time as this.

Join Our Fast
We want to follow the example of fasting found in Isaiah 58, where we called upon to not only give up a meal, but also help set the captives free (Isaiah 58:6). Please consider joining us in this Fast for Freedom. During Lent, from Ash Wednesday to Resurrection Sunday (March 9-April 24), fast a meal per day and donate the money you would have spent on the meal towards a freedom project. The Freedom Project we will be giving towards is this:
  • We will be seeking to buy land in Northern Thailand that will provide safety and a brighter future for hundreds of children who were victims of sex trafficking, orphans and at-risk children of human trafficking. The land will also be an agricultural source of food and work-skills development to give these children a sustainable future filled with hope.
  • We will also be using the money to help provide much-needed renovations for a children's village and orphanage in Northern Thailand that provides shelter and care for hundreds of children who were set free from slavery.
This is a great way to impact the lives of hundreds of children and give hope for future generations. Please join us as we pray, fast, and give for freedom.
